PROJECT DETAILS
The California Department of Health Care and Access and Information has set out on the mission to allow mental health coaches into public school settings in an effort to support the mental health needs of California's Children and Youth. Since the website and company launch more than 4,000 Wellness Coaches have been certified — increasing access to preventative care across many different communities within California.
HCAI came to wondros with their original government-funded website (hcai.ca.gov) in desperate need for a new brand identity that would bring the organization to life and to help create a website that felt exciting and comforting. The main challenge was finding ways to appeal to a wide array of users as we were delivering a website for employers, employees, students, and those that had never heard of Wellness Coaches.
Along with a team of brand designers, engineers, UX researchers, account leads, and strategists we developed a strong website and identity that has brought a large stream of traffic.

Even after the site launched we continued to iterate. We found holes in our user's understanding of the two main pathways to become a CWC (Certified Wellness Coach) and created a pathway map. The project's engineer and I would weekly meet as I began ideating on ways to make the experience more dynamic and "game-ify" the experience. We ultimately decided to create Lottie files for the line growth to show the user where they were in the experience and assigned each color to a milestone within the process.

For the milestone steps I wanted to branch off of our static icon set. The pathway page is meant to feel connected with the brand while also feeling new and fresh as this pathway is meant to share the full CWC experience. Through benchmarking and meeting with our account leads we decided to go with a "town-map" feel to bring a sense of nostalgia and feeling of "navigating home". I created a set of illustrations to help visualize this experience.
